Ofcourse, diet is not the only health factor, some other things also comes to play.
- DRINK PLENTY OF WATER
Water eliminates toxins, increases energy, aids in weight loss, and promotes better brain function. Water is your most important nutrient. You can live only three days without it, and it is involved in every metabolic reaction in your body. Yet most of us don’t drink enough. When we are properly hydrated, our heart and blood vessels work much better, along with all of our other bodily functions—we think better, our strength and endurance are better, we feel better, we are healthier, and we will live longer. Try take a minimum of 2 litres of water daily. Get drinking!
4. GET ACTIVE & EXERCISE REGULARLY
Getting to exercise your body will add great value to your health. Exercise can improve your quality of life by firming muscles, controlling weight, strengthening the heart and lungs, improving circulation and digestion, burning calories, and building strength, endurance and flexibility. You wouldn’t need to do rigorous exercise like running round your neighbourhood everyday, or carrying heavy weight metals and the likes. Just simple walk in the cool of the day or some aerobic movements in your bedroom/sitting room can do the magical fitness and smartness you are looking for. Consistency of little steps can yield you great result.
5. SLEEP WELL
Lack of rest weakens your immune system and makes you susceptible to illnesses and diseases. Taking time out for quality shut-eye is a key component of healthy living. Research shows time after time that the average adult needs six to eight hours of sleep each day. If you aren’t getting a good eight hours of sleep a night, you may suffer from sleep deprivation which has a very negative impact on one’s health. Form the habit of quality rest no matter how busy you are. If you do not rest, your body will soon be laid to rest says Bishop David Oyedepo. You need to prioritize your health.
6. GET SOME SUNSHINE
Ten minutes of sunlight per day, even if only on exposed arms, is enough to encourage normal vitamin D production. Sunlight has mood-elevating effects. It destroys harmful bacteria and stimulates a cascade of positive hormone effects in the body. While excessive sun exposure can be harmful, so can inadequate exposure. Outdoor exercise will give the necessary sunlight without excess. Make it a point to get a modest amount of sunlight each day, whether by outdoor exercise or ten minutes of sunbathing.
7. DEVELOP A POSITIVE MIND & STAY CONNECTED WITH GOD
The state of your mind is very critical to your wellbeing. A healthy life begins on the inside. When you power up your mind with positive thoughts and energy, it will empower you to change your life in positive ways. Do you understand that you are more than just flesh and bone? You have to be in right connection with God to enjoy total health. If your spirit man is unhealthy, your soul and body will not. You must get your relationship right with God.
8. PRACTICE STRESS MANAGEMENT
Effective stress management is another key to healthy living. Stress can have a negative effect on your well-being, affect your sleep, lessen energy levels, results in lack of focus, lower productivity and cause a variety of illnesses. Stress isn’t preventable, but learning how to deal with it effectively can prevent it from negatively impacting your health. You can cultivate the habit of eating anti-stress fruits like pineapple, banana, apple etc. Teas like Ginger tea, Noni tea, Camomile tea also help relax nervous system.
9. BREATHE FRESH AIR
The way you breathe has a dramatic effect on your sense of wellbeing. Many people breathe poorly, without even realizing it. It’s important to maintain proper breathing. Air provides life-giving oxygen. Like water, the body cannot survive without taking in oxygen. Plenty of fresh, clean air is essential to good health. Here are some ways to get more advantage from each breath you take.
- Exercise out-of-doors as much as possible, especially in nature. Parks, the sea shore or even local grassy areas provide benefit. Remember, green plants purify the air and give us back more oxygen.
- If you live in a city where the air quality is compromised (most people do!), have green plants indoors at home and at work as much as possible. Houseplants help purify indoor air.
- Practice deep breathing exercises. Many people are oxygen-deprived because they do not breathe deeply.
- Try to live in a place where the air quality is good. Many big cities have notoriously poor air quality. Consider a home air purifier if you live in a particularly bad area.
10. LIFE MUST BE IN BALANCE
A fully balanced life is required for health and happiness. We each have different areas of life that are important to us. For example Health & Fitness, Emotions, Relationships, Finances, Career/Business, Family, Friends and Self-Development. All aspects of one’s self, must work in harmony to achieve healthy living, so you need to create a balanced life …spiritually, physically, emotionally, socially, mentally and financially. All of the key areas of our lives overlap and interlink, effecting each other so to live a contented, happy and healthy life you must not ignore any one of them.
